November 2024

Our Hovawart model for November is Jude vom Treuen Freund. Jude has done therapy work at a workshop for intellectually challenged folks. She is the mother of Echo and Indigo vom Treuen Freund (April 2023), that's Indigo in the photo with his mom. A Spring 2025 litter is planned tentatively.

The American Hovawart Club held its annual show in Syracuse, NY. Our wonderful judge, Craig Hosie, travelled all the way from Scotland. Our hosts, the Mack family, arranged a great indoor dog training facility for us to use. Our Hovis enjoyed our main Conformation event and educational and fun activities like Introduction to Agility and Flyball and a hands-on body conditioning workshop. Here, we have Adal Tresa Gustafson (Tresa) expertly working the A-frame during our Agility session.

September 2024

"Gia, our Hovawart model for September, came to us 13 years ago this summer from Poland. She has a lovely temperament, calm, intelligent, sweet and happy. She is still quite active and agile in her grand old age, chasing balls on land and in the water and hiking the foothills. She swims year round, in the lake in the summer and in a rehab pool in the winter. Her best buddy is Finn, our male Cavalier, though he is not too happy about her fascination with trying to bite his feet! We are so grateful to have had Gia for all these years!"

August 2024

Our Monthly Model for August is Indigo, named for his sire 'Blue' from Slovenia. He is 16 months old and still very much an energetic puppy. He loves people and 'sits pretty' when greeted. Toys, ball chasing, and zooming are his favorite activities. He recently began swimming in the lake to retrieve balls. We are working with a trainer and Indigo is quick to learn and quite obedient. Can't say enough about how much we love having this sweet boy in our family!

July 2024

Our Monthly Model for July is Treue, German for Faithful. She is 10 years old and was imported from Europe. She is very friendly with people and dogs. She is "easy" to live with as nothing much bothers her and she just goes with the flow whatever is going on. She likes to wade in the river behind her house, but is not at all interested in swimming. She doesn't have a favorite toy, but when she wants to play she will dig through her toy box to find what she thinks is the perfect toy for that moment ... usually a small but long soft toy with a squeaker!

June 2024

Our Hovawart Model for the month of June is handsome Viggo ex Horto Albo. Viggo is 25 months old and he loves to play with his house mates Loki - a Pomeranian - and Michael - a ginger cat. What a great gang! Viggo reliably  announces the presence of first responder vehicles in the area by howling along when he hears the sirens. Scroll down to see some of Viggo's recent accomplishments in the show ring.
